Exercises to Bowl Faster: Pullover Pair
One of the big issues with gm training for fast bowlers is the transfer from weights to the bowling action.
As Steff Jones says, there is a large river of difference between them unless you bridge the gap.
That's what this quick exercise combination from Steffan does really well, taking a "traditional" strength exercise and pairing it with a fast, powerful movement.
It makes sure you take the gym with you to the playing field.
The pair is a good old-fashioned dumbbell pullover and a medicine ball overhead throw.
The pullover trains the shoulders in an extension movement helping with the lats and the core (all crucial to fast bowlers).
The med ball trains your upper body to be explosive, in a similar way to the bowling action.
When you think if bowling a cricket ball, you can see how the movement goes from strength into power and finally into speed in a smooth flow.
However, it's not the complete answer to training to get faster. To do that you need to get a complete programme.
Lucky enough, Steff Jones has one you can take straight off the shelf and start using today. Click here.
The programme is designed by a former bowler who now trains cricketers from schoolboy level to experienced professionals.
It's the best plan for you if you want to use fitness training to improve your natural bowling speed and keep injury away.

Hi David,
This is a very interesting exercise I will try it out in my next gym session. I am a 22 year old opening bowler currently playing in the Eden Valley league in Cumbria. I have designed myself a pre season workout with an aim to gain more pace within my bowling for the up and coming season. I would very much appreciate some feedback if you would so kind to take the time to browse over it?
Many Thanks
Daniel
Sure, where is it?
I can send it to you via email if I could have your address or just post it on here whichever is more suitable?
Hi, I'm a left handed opening batsman, pretty small so obviously not much of a big hitter. I have a small technical fault/habit where on the front foot I take a very small step and instead of getting my body over the ball and my momentum going forward, I tend to stand very upright. This has one advantage in that I very rarely get out to yorkers, but it also means I also have trouble capitalizing on half volleys and full tosses (in my rep matches especially), and therefore, missing out on lots of runs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Sorry, that comment was irrelevant to the conversation, but I couldn't find where else to post it
Hi David,
I have attempted to send the file to coach@pitchvision.com but it has failed to send. Do you have an alternate email?
Many Thanks
Dan
It's OK, I got it.
