CRICKET JOBS: Umpire Development and Support Manager - Queensland Cricket

Queensland Cricket is responding to the increasing popularity of cricket by placing greater emphasis on its Game Development activities.
Game Development is responsible for promoting and developing the game amongst the younger generation, as well as across both genders and within Australia's indigenous and multicultural communities.
As part of this greater commitment to "growing Australia's favourite game", particularly in regional Queensland, Queensland Cricket is seeking an outstanding candidate to fill the position of Manager Umpire Development and Support.
Reporting to the Game Development Manager, the Umpire Development and Support Manager will be responsible for managing the recruitment and development of the umpiring resources required across the state.
Particular areas of focus will be:
- Develop and implement strategies designed to attract potential umpires across the state.
- Design programs and associated resources to be used in the development and assessment of umpiring skills.
- Design and oversee the implementation of an umpire review and feedback process.
- Build, maintain and oversee a network of appropriately skilled people who can provide umpire training and assessment across the state.
- Design and deliver education and training initiatives for umpire trainers.
- Recommend talented and emerging umpires for consideration for higher honours.
- Provide feedback and input on issues affecting umpiring to Queensland Cricket and Cricket Australia.
Apart from an unquestioned passion for the game the successful candidate must have a detailed knowledge of the laws and playing conditions of cricket.
The Umpire Development and Support Manager will also need outstanding communications skills including the written skills to produce high quality written submissions, proposals and training materials but also the verbal and presentation skills necessary to facilitate effective umpire training seminars.
In addition they will need the relationship management skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders as well as the financial skills to frame sound budget submissions, generate accurate forecasts and manage umpire costs within agreed financial parameters.
