Lord’s Ground, the most famous cricket ground in the world, and owned by Marylebone Cricket Club (the Club), is renowned worldwide for staging international cricket matches with up to 28,500 spectators in attendance. Lord’s is also an exceptional venue with a wealth of experience in delivering high quality hospitality, corporate and private events, hosted by our Catering, Hospitality and Meeting and Events team and supported by a casual workforce of up to 700 on a Major Match Day.
We are now recruiting a Staffing Manager to take overall responsibility for the recruitment and development of high quality casual chefs, managers and waiting and bar staff, driving a positive workplace culture to enhance the customer experience. Working closely with the Senior Operations Team on the design and delivery of a robust recruitment and training programme for the casual staff, this role will also focus ensuring the financial control and forecasting of labour against the payroll budget. Additional key duties include the management, and communication of Service Level Agreements of key relationships with external suppliers, which include the Club’s nominated recruitment agencies.
The Staffing Manager will also assume responsibility for the day to day duties which includes the management of a small team, creating and managing the casual staff rotas, managing the checking and checking out of staff on match days. In addition, you will ensure the record-keeping for casual staff is compliant with internal policies and with current legislation.
Required skills and experience
With experience gained in a Staffing Manager role in a challenging, deadline driven environment, the ideal candidate will have experience of high volume recruitment, venue catering and will also have worked either for a high profile brand, ideally in the leisure sector.
Robust communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are also essential, as he or she will be interacting with a diverse range of people, internally and externally with the aim of establishing long-lasting relationships. In addition, the ideal candidate will be customer service focussed with a proven track record of leading, managing and developing staff as well as demonstrable experience of budgeting and financial planning.
Strong IT skills, especially Word and Excel, is essential, along with the ability to prioritise and organise workloads and work to often tight deadline. Significant flexibility is required for attendance on Major Match Days and working extended hours, including weekends, as required. An interest in cricket is helpful but is not a prerequisite.
