Coach Core is an Apprenticeship programme developed and funded by the Royal Foundation. It is designed to give NEET young people an employer led entry into the community coaching profession. The Nottingham Coach Core Apprenticeship programme is being delivered by a partnership consisting of:- Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club and its charity The Trent Bridge Community Trust, Notts County Football In the Community, Nottingham Forest Football in the Community, National Ice Centre, Nottingham Rugby, Nottingham City of Football and Epic Partners. This partnership approach for the delivery of Coach Core has not been done before, if successful this model will be continued and developed further.
General programme and line management
⦁ To take lead responsibility for the high quality design, planning, management and delivery of the Coach Core Apprenticeship programme from both a strategic and project delivery standpoint.
⦁ To performance manage and direct the work of the team of Coach Core Mentors across the programme
⦁ To performance/ line manage, guide and develop the Coach Core Apprentices ensuring they successfully complete their apprenticeship and training programme.
⦁ To have a visual and active presence at programmes where apprentices are deployed, to monitor progress and carry out quality assurance and ongoing assessment.
⦁ To ensure Life Time tutors deliver the agreed programme of training and support as agreed.
⦁ To strive to ensure that at least 80% of the cohort complete the apprenticeship.
Partnership working and training provision
⦁ To establish, develop and manage relationships with all partners, funders and other relevant organisations
⦁ To accurately inform and guide the Programme Management Team to ensure the successful management, deployment and development of the Coach Core Apprentices.
⦁ To support the team of Head Coaches who are mentoring and working with the apprentices, including setting clear expectations and direction, providing training and on the job support in mentoring and managing apprentices.
⦁ To manage the relationship with the Royal Foundation and all Partners. Ensuring clear and coherent communication is in place with all key stakeholders.
⦁ To manage the training programme for the whole Apprenticeship Programme, ensuring Life Time deliver all elements of the training as required and anticipated, holding them to account ensuring high quality delivery at all times.
⦁ To identify external providers to deliver effective value for money services (e.g. 1st Aid ) where need cannot be met internally.
⦁ To deliver training and other development activities to the Apprentices as required.
⦁ Support each organisation to develop high quality opportunities following the apprenticeship for individuals to move into quality employment opportunities within the partnership or other external agencies.
Administration and budgets
⦁ To provide regular reports to the Programme Management Team on the progress and development of the programme
⦁ To ensure there are robust, effective and detailed project administration processes and procedures in place adhered to.
⦁ To ensure all resources, venues and equipment are in place for the training and being used effectively.
⦁ To ensure stringent contractual agreements and subsequent processes are in place with partners and suppliers at all times, including managing and negotiating contracts, agreements, regularly reviewing them to ensure they are appropriately enforced at all times
⦁ To manage the Nottingham Coach Core programme budget.
⦁ To ensure key performance indicators, monitoring and evaluation systems and administration is in place and completed on time.
⦁ To work with the management group to attract additional funding into the programme.
⦁ Develop and manage individual action plans with all participants, updating at least once per month in conjunction with the individuals mentors.
Other Roles
⦁ Undertake any other occasional responsibilities that may be required by the Lead Partner Organisation.
Essential
⦁ A strong professional working knowledge and experience of managing, leading, and delivering training, workforce development and apprenticeship programmes.
⦁ A strong professional working knowledge of community sports coaching from previous experience as a coach and or managing and developing a team of coaches.
⦁ Strong leadership and people development skills and have a proven track record of effective people management (particularly of young people).
⦁ Experience of designing, planning and managing projects.
⦁ Experience in successfully and effectively managing partner relationships.
⦁ An ability to resolve complex issues and manage projects in a dynamic and constantly changing environment.
⦁ Experience and understanding of accessing funding within Further Education and apprenticeship programmes.
⦁ An experienced and qualified tutor, able to deliver training and other CPD for Apprentices and Head Coaches.
⦁ A Qualified Assessor who is able to assess and verify level 2 and 3 qualifications.
⦁ A passion for working with and serving the needs of disadvantaged young people.
⦁ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
⦁ Strong IT and budgeting skills, including financial planning and management processes.
⦁ A full driving licence.
⦁ A thorough understanding and commitment to equality and working inclusively.
Desirable
⦁ Strong professional working knowledge and experience of managing community focused programmes aimed at disadvantaged young people.
⦁ A thorough understanding of and commitment to Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young people legislation and general good practice.
⦁ An understanding of the key principles in teaching and learning and be able to identify both good and poor practice.
⦁ Able to work independently.
⦁ Well organised and able to meet deadlines.
⦁ Work and communicate effectively in a team environment.
⦁ Be flexible and self-motivated.
⦁ Able to lead and motivate others.
