Cricket South Africa (“CSA”) is the national governing body for the sport of cricket in South Africa and administers all aspects of South African cricket.
A position for a National Match Officials Administrator has become available. The successful candidate will be responsible for the broader management of Umpires and Scorers from Amateur through to Professional cricket level. This would include the development and implementation of effective, relevant and standardised operating procedures, strategies, policies and procedures for umpiring as well as providing policy direction and guidance to the Match Officials’ Associations (Umpires and Scorers). The management and overseeing of Match Officials training and personnel development will form an integral part of the duties.
The role will report to the Cricket Operations Manager and is integral to the functioning of Match Officials in South Africa.
Main job duties/responsibilities:
The National Match Officials Administrator is responsible for providing general leadership and management of cricket umpiring and scoring within South Africa. The National Match Officials Administrator will work with international, national and provincial based organisations and stakeholders to develop, implement, and manage programs, systems and policies for the improvement of cricket umpires and umpiring, cricket scorers and scoring at all levels of the game.
This would include:
- Management and leadership of umpiring and scoring in South African cricket
- Management of High Performance umpiring
- Management of Cricket South Africa contracted umpires, including selections/appointments
- Development, implementation and management of Umpire Education and Training programs and resources in conjunction with the Umpire Educator
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Integral understanding of CSA Cricket Playing Conditions across all formats
- Passionate about the game of cricket
- Application of the MCC Laws of Cricket
- Extensive Professional First Class umpiring experience
- National First Class certificate
- Budget management skills
- Strong administration skills
- Good report writing skills and Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office suite.
National Match Officials Administrator
In addition, the following would be important:
Good attitude and excellent interpersonal skills; high levels of resilience and self-motivation; conflict management and resolution skills; results focused; sound analysis and judgment; good management skills; excellent communication and facilitation skills (verbal and written) including ability to communicate with people at all levels; the ability to plan, organize and work effectively on own and as part of a team.
Successful candidate would be based at CSA Offices at the CSA Cricket Centre of Excellence, LC de Villiers Sports Ground, University of Pretoria, Pretoria.
Extensive travel will be required during the course of the successful candidates’ duties.
