Growing Australia’s Favourite Sport

Queensland Cricket is responding to the increasing popularity of cricket by placing greater emphasis on its Game Development activities.  Game Development is responsible for promoting and developing the game amongst the younger generation, as well as across both genders and within Australia’s Indigenous and multicultural communities.

As part of this greater commitment to “growing Australia’s favourite sport”, Queensland Cricket has created a new position of State Infrastructure Manager responsible for planning and delivering the infrastructure and facilities needed to support the growing game across the state.

Reporting to the GM Game and Market Development, the State Infrastructure Manager will be responsible for:

  •     Conducting a comprehensive review and audit of existing cricketing facilities across the state to identify opportunities for improvement.
  •     Identifying opportunities for the development of new infrastructure by reviewing population growth statistics and examining new residential development areas.
  •     Prioritising infrastructure projects both in relation to the upgrading of existing facilities and the development of new facilities.
  •     Managing Queensland’s participation in the National Cricket Facilities Fund Scheme by prioritising and representing project proposals.
  •     Liaising with large residential developers regarding planned recreational facilities and how cricket might best leverage that infrastructure.
  •     Working closely with the CA/QC Government Relations Manager in determining how state and local Government might best participate in the development of cricketing infrastructure.
  •     Working closely across Game and Market Development management to ensure participation programs are appropriately utilising both existing and newly developed cricketing infrastructure.
  •     Liaising with other sporting codes regarding opportunities for sharing existing recreational facilities and for proposing, particularly to government and developers, the development of new shared facilities.

Apart from an unquestioned passion for, and knowledge of, sport the successful candidate must have the capacity to adopt a strategic and proactive approach in identifying infrastructure and facilities requirements and in formulating strategies and solutions.  He/she must also possess outstanding written communication skills to be able to develop high quality submissions and business cases and the verbal and presentation skills to be able to sell a proposal at the highest management levels and to be able to positively influence stakeholders and decision makers.

Interested candidates should submit their applications by COB Friday 4 December 2015 via Seek.com.au or via post to:
