CRICKET JOBS: Head of Management Accounting - MCC (UK)

Marylebone Cricket Club (“MCC”) is the world’s most active cricket club, custodian of the laws of cricket and is also the owner of Lord’s Ground, affectionately known as the ‘Home of Cricket’. Lord’s is renowned worldwide for staging international cricket matches with up to 30,000 spectators in attendance each day. With an annual income of around £50m MCC has over 250 employees, supported by an additional 1,200 casual workers during international matches.
MCC is part way through a £25m project to rebuild the Warner Stand as part of a larger £250m masterplan to redevelop the facilities at Lord’s.
An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Management Accounting to lead and coordinate the Management Reporting and Decision Support Processes. With the appointment of a new Finance Director twelve months ago there is an enhanced focus on providing financial leadership across MCC.
This new role has been created to strengthen the management accounting team following the implementation of a new management reporting system and a restructuring of the Chart of Accounts.
The role will also develop the quality of financial and non-financial KPI reporting and support budget holders and the executive team to ensure that projects and initiatives are fully appraised on a financial basis before decisions are taken.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a major role in developing the finance function and its role in MCC.
Required skills and experience
The successful candidate will be a qualified Accountant with good experience in management reporting, forecasting and budgeting as well as a track record of supporting budget holders and driving good cost and budget management.
Experience of driving income generation and cost reduction projects will be a significant advantage.
The ability to work collegiately with different operational teams and individuals with varying levels of financial awareness, as well as being able to quickly build trust and maintain relationships will be a significant benefit.
