CRICKET JOBS: Cricket Academy Head Coach - Whitgift School (UK)

Whitgift is one of Britain’s leading independent boarding and day schools for boys aged between 10 and 18 years, with approximately 1440 pupils and 106 boarding or flexi-boarding pupils.
It was founded in 1596 by Elizabeth I’s last Archbishop of Canterbury, John Whitgift, and is the oldest school in Croydon.
Whitgift enjoys facilities of outstanding quality, amongst the best available nationally, in a beautiful parkland estate in South Croydon.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Cricket Academy Head Coach who will further enhance the cricket programme at the school, strengthening existing links within the community and the professional game.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare, coach and manage Academy players within the squad as selected with the HCP.
- Establish a clear pathway for talented cricketers to gain entry into the school
- Plan, manage and run Academy net and training sessions.
- Structure and coach on a small group or individual basis all Academy players.
- Manage and ensure that the Academy Programme becomes the ‘pipeline’ of elite player development for the School.
- Coach within the Whitgift Cricket Programme. Work alongside the current coaching staff to develop players within the school to feed the Whitgift Cricket Academy.
- Coach and manage Sports teams and players as directed by the Director of Sport (DOS).
- Regularly liaise with all key feeder schools, Performance Managers within County Cricket Clubs/Boards and local cricket Clubs.
- Maintain an accurate and concise database of talented players for entry into Whitgift School.
- To contribute towards the co-curricular life at Whitgift, including supervising sports camps and sports tours during the school holidays.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential Requirements
- Recent experience of coaching or playing in an elite cricket environment
- UKCC L3 cricket coaching qualification
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Hard working
Desirable Requirements
- ECB Level 4
- Experience of cricket coaching in a schools setting
- Ability to coach at least one other sport
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:
This position is offered as a full-time, term-time permanent contract.
The Rugby Development Officer will work 5 days per week, full-time, term-time and co-curricular programmes that operate at the School during the week and over a significant number of weekends.
The salary range for this post will be on the Whitgift Foundation Support Staff Salary Scale (dependent on qualifications and relevant experience).
