Lancashire County Cricket Club, in conjunction with David Roberts Physiotherapy, are offering an exciting opportunity to become the Assistant Physiotherapist at Lancashire County Cricket Club based at the iconic Emirates Old Trafford Stadium.
If you are a self-starter, not afraid of hard work, and want to grab a rare chance to learn and work in a high performance sporting environment, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
The successful applicant will report directly to the 1st Team Physiotherapist and work closely with the multi-disciplinary Sports Science & Medicine Team including Physiotherapists, Strength & Conditioning Coaches, Club Doctor and Psychologist, as well as the 1st and 2nd Team Coaches and Academy Director.
You will be responsible for covering all home Lancashire 2nd XI and Academy matches throughout the summer, and travel around Lancashire and other counties, as determined by the teams fixtures. Attendance at training, screenings and recovery sessions will also be required. Assistance with the rehabilitation of injured professional and Academy players as directed by the 1st Team Physiotherapist will also be required.
The successful applicant will have:
- A degree in Physiotherapy
- CSP and HCPC Registration
- A visa to live and work in the United Kingdom (In the case of overseas applicants)
- Flexibility and willingness to work the often unsocial hours that come with working in a professional sporting environment.
- Your own transport and a clean driving licence.
- An enthusiastic personality, able to motivate and inspire confidence in others.
You do not need extensive physiotherapy or sports physiotherapy experience to apply for this position. You do however, have to be reliable, willing to learn, follow instructions, be punctual and efficient. It is important to have a hands-on approach to massage and soft tissue work combined with confidence in your ability to perform hands on assessment and treatment.
An understanding or background in the game of cricket is desirable but not essential. It is expected that the successful applicant will have the ability to mix easily in a dressing room environment with athletes of various ages and backgrounds.
The position will commence in late February 2014 and run through until the end of the cricket season in late September 2014. The opportunity also exists to combine this role with part time physiotherapy work within the David Roberts Physiotherapy network of clinics around Greater Manchester during the summer, which may offer further opportunities out of season. Remuneration and further opportunities will be discussed during the interview process.
