CRICKET JOBS: Academy Director / 2nd XI Coach - Somerset CCC (UK)

Somerset County Cricket Club have commenced the recruitment of an Academy/2nd XI Director. The post is a crucial appointment within the senior cricket management team and will be responsible for the development of young talent into the Somerset 1st XI and beyond.
The role will also encompass leadership and organisation of the 2nd XI matches which fits neatly with the development of players into the 1st team squad. Finally, an external focus on building relationships with key stakeholders will be fundamental to the role.
The ideal candidate will bring a number of skills, namely:
A high level of coaching expertise (ECB Level 3 and above) within a development context/FCC. Specific experience of young player development would be advantageous.
Experience of playing professional cricket would be highly desirable in order to aid in the development of young players.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills will be required. The role will be the public face of the Club in relation to dealing with players, parents, schools, Somerset Cricket Board, Clubs and Minor Counties in a pro-active as opposed to reactive capacity.
Strong administrative skills. The role requires sound logistical/administrative planning ability in order to run the Academy and 2nd XI programmes as well as accurately recording the training outputs in line with the Club’s/ECB requirements.
The successful candidate must be a pro-active and mature self-starter able to shape and develop the player development programme and establish excellent relationships with key stakeholders.

Somerset County Cricket Club intend to start conducting interviews in the week 3-7 November. The successful applicant will assume the post on 05st Jan 2015. A competitive salary will be paid for the right candidate and commensurate with the demands of the role.
