Just a quick question...
Is it compulsory to have a wicket keeper?
Interesting theory. No you don't have to have one but why would you not?
Ah, well on Sunday, we played a friendly, I was keeping and the captain brought on a (very) part time slow bowler, he gives the ball plenty of flight, and is almost always straight. I kept to 3 of his overs and was having a conversation with the captain about how I've not had to take the ball once as all his balls had been played as they were so slow and pretty straight. The captain, then decided to put me (the wicketkeeper) at extra cover, and I took off my helmet and gloves. The bowler then continued to bowl 7 more overs, and the batsmen played every ball with the bat, and there were no edges. So our plan worked, however we weren't sure if it was entirely in the laws of the game.
