Case Study Updates: Matt and Trevor

Matt has completed a very useful exercise to try and improve his team's performance in 2008. I asked him to write a fake newspaper report summarising the season with the most incredible success he can realistically come up with. Professionals call this 'outcome visioning' which is just a posh way of writing down what you want to achieve without holding yourself back.
To get this across Matt will run team meetings to lay down specific goals and team roles for the coming season. He realises that this may be limited by players not being able to make it on a regular basis.
On the fitness/nutrition side, Matt is increasing his protein intake (he is vegetarian so will get it from non meat sources) and starting to do strength training to help him meet his 'vision'.
Trevor has now pinned his yearly goals to specific tasks that he can work on in the build up to and during the season. These include taking time to visualise success, relax, and review his performance after games (not during them). Additionally Trevor will use this relaxation technique in the nets and in the middle.
Fitness wise Trevor will focus on improving strength and mobility through an adapted version of this workout. He has also started using fish oil and eating more fish.
